About us and the breeding structure

What Exactly is a Miniature Cattle?

There is no fixed definition, specific appearance, or official herd books for miniature cattle in Europe. Currently, our miniature breeding program loosely follows the size guidelines set by the U.S. breeding association.

According to these guidelines, a cow is classified as a “Full Miniature” if it does not exceed a height of 42 inches (106.7 cm) at 24 months of age. The measurement is taken at the midpoint of the hip bone, not at the withers. This size specification is also our breeding goal.

It is important to note that cattle continue to grow until they are about five years old. However, growth between the ages of three and five is minimal. Overseas breeding associations classify fully grown animals as “Full Miniature Cattle” if they reach a maximum height of 120 cm. Our goal, however, is to breed animals that do not exceed 42 inches (106.7 cm) even at five years old a target we have already achieved with 90% of our offspring.

Furthermore, during our past collaboration with Mr. Kayer, we took it a step further and developed our own breeding line called “Liliputs.” These animals have a targeted maximum height of just 95 cm. However, they currently make up only a small portion of our livestock, while the majority of our herd consists of “Minis.”
